Workshop Overview
Join the Eat Wild team for a morel mushroom foraging adventure during the height of morel season. This is a two day / one night workshop. We’ll take you to productive mushroom grounds where you can fill your buckets, baskets and rucksacks full of morels. We’ll teach morel identification and basic orienteering techniques to navigate your foraging terrain and get your mushrooms back to the truck safely!
Groups of five will be led by experienced EatWild mentors while we explore the burn in search of morels. Expert foragers Jody Peck from Wild Northern Way, and Dylan from EatWild will lead this workshop as we demonstrate ethical harvest practices. The weekend will, of course, include a gourmet wild game and a morel feast prepared by Jody PecK. Jody will also prepare a Sunday breakfast. There should be time to enjoy the campfire and tell a few stories too.
Camping will be hosted at Singing Lands Ranch. Cabins are available for an additional cost of around $80 a night.
You’ll keep all the mushrooms you pick. We will talk about how to process and store your morel mushrooms so you can enjoy them for the year to come. Last year, conditions were ideal and we were able to pick 25 pounds of morel mushrooms each. Things are shaping up for a productive year.
This workshop will go ahead rain or shine. Please bring rain gear, good hiking boots, bug protection, compass, GPS and camping gear.
Carpooling is awesome to share gas and company. Must have a high clearance vehicle. Let us know if that’s you!
Accommodations: Camping at Singing Lands Ranch
Note: If the picking is good, then we might extend the workshop for an extra day and return home on Monday evening. So you are welcome to stick around for another day.
