In this course, we'll talk about bear safety and safe practices for folks hanging out in the woods, whether you're hunting, foraging, or working in the woods. We want to deliver some best practices for avoiding bear encounters, how to react to an encounter if you come across a bear, and the worst-case scenario. If you find yourself in a situation where a bear is charging or attacking you, we will try and give you some options to mitigate that situation as well to have the best possible outcome. 

I have joined Rob Wilson, an EarWild mentor and fellow Park Ranger.

As a Park Ranger, one of your key roles is to be a park officer or park ranger responsible for maintaining park visitors' safety. The position requires you to manage problem bearers and bear encounters, investigate bear encounters, manage challenging bears in campgrounds. Over the years, both Rob and I have had a significant amount of experience assessing bear behaviour. Rob and I have a combined 50 years of professional expertise in keeping people safe in bear country, doing our best to educate people about bear safety and how to react to bears in the field. 

Lastly, we have spent a lot of time in the woods working, hunting and foraging in bear country. And we have the bear stories to prove it! 

This course will help you build the knowledge and confidence to avoid bear encounters and make you feel safer in bear country.
